Kolkata, 2 April (H.S.) – Some parts of South Bengal may get relief from the scorching heat as the Alipore Meteorological Department has predicted weather changes from Wednesday. Rainfall is expected in the western parts of South Bengal, particularly in East Medinipur, West Medinipur, and Jhargram districts. Coastal and western districts are also likely to witness rainfall on Thursday.
According to the weather department, humidity and heat will continue to dominate South Bengal. The western districts will experience higher temperatures, and the increased moisture in the air will make the heat feel more intense. However, afternoon showers are expected. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain may occur in East and West Medinipur and Jhargram districts, with wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 km per hour.
Rainfall intensity is likely to increase on Thursday. Thunderstorms with showers may affect Purulia, Bankura, West Medinipur, Jhargram, and West Burdwan districts. Wind speeds in these areas could also reach 30 to 40 km per hour. Rain is expected to continue in the eastern districts on Sunday and Monday as well.
No significant change in temperature is expected in Kolkata. The increasing humidity levels will make the weather feel even more uncomfortable. The sky will remain mostly clear, but a change in weather is likely from Thursday, with partly cloudy conditions. On Wednesday, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5°C and a maximum of 34.6°C.
North Bengal is also unlikely to see major temperature fluctuations. However, light rain is expected in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri districts on Friday. From Sunday onwards, rainfall intensity may increase, extending to Malda district as well.
