Guwahati, 02 April (HS): Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly Numal Momin has expressed strong support for the Waqf Amendment Bill to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. He termed it a great initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has been brought for the upliftment of the deprived Muslim community of the country.

Speaking to the media, Momin launched a scathing attack on the Congress and alleged that the party has exploited the poor Muslim community for political gains. He said that the Congress has always stopped poor Muslims from progressing, while the rich leaders of the party kept taking advantage of it.

He alleged that the Congress has always followed the policy of exploiting poor Muslims. They do not want poor Muslims to get better facilities and livelihood, while the rich leaders of the party take advantage of these poor people.

Apart from this, he urged the Congress to support this bill and correct its past mistakes. Momin said, My suggestion to the Congress party is that they should come forward with an open mind and support this bill to prove that they are really with the poor Muslim community.
