Guwahati, 19 April (HS): Basistha police has arrested enforcement officer Nav Deka on charges of illegally collecting money. It is alleged that he was illegally collecting money from trucks and dumpers carrying sand, stones and soil from Jorabat, 14 Mile and Khanapara areas.

Two cases were registered in this regard at Basistha police station. Another accused has already been arrested in the same cases. Police arrested Nav Deka on Friday night. He is currently working in the Transport Department office located in Bentakuchi. His permanent residence is in Nalbari district, but he lived in a rented house in the Hathigaon area of Guwahati.

For a long time, he was accused of illegally collecting money. The police itself registered a case and started investigation, after which he was caught.

The other arrested accused include Saurabh Rongpi, Kulen Rongpi, Naziruddin Ahmed, Bipul Ingti and Nonkur.
