New Delhi, March 22 (HS): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed deep concern over the rising violence and targeted persecution of Hindu society, particularly the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, by Islamic extremist elements in Bangladesh. At the same time, the Sangh has urged the global community to stand in solidarity with Hindu society and to take decisive action.
The RSS's three-day All India Representatives' Assembly is taking place at the Janaseva VidyaKendra in Channenahalli, Bengaluru. On the second day of the meeting, Saturday, Co-General Secretary Arun Kumar briefed the media on the resolutions passed by the assembly. He was accompanied by the All India Publicity Chief Sunil Ambekar. Co-General Secretary Arun Kumar stated that the Indian government has taken commendable steps for the safety of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh. Diplomatic efforts have also been made with the Bangladesh government, and this issue has been raised on various international platforms, but if the atrocities continue or escalate, further action may be necessary.
The resolution calling for solidarity with the Hindu community in Bangladesh expresses the Sangh's profound concern over rising violence and persecution of Hindus, particularly Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, by Islamic extremist groups. It highlights systematic assaults on religious sites, brutal killings, forced conversions, and property destruction, indicating an existential crisis for Hindus there.
The All India Representatives' Assembly condemned these religious intolerance acts and urged the global community to respond decisively. Arun Kumar emphasized that while these actions are condemnable, the government's inaction has emboldened aggressors, leading to a significant decline in the Hindu population, now just 7.95% from 22% in 1951.
Historical and ongoing persecution remains a critical issue, worsened by last year’s organized violence and passive government responses. He warned of increasing anti-India rhetoric in Bangladesh, which threatens historical bonds and encourages the destabilization promoted by external powers. The resolution stressed shared cultural ties among India and its neighbors, highlighting that communal tensions in one area affect the entire subcontinent.
Arun Kumar addressed internal organizational matters, asserting no rift between BJP and RSS, and emphasized consensus-driven efforts in the RSS's expansion, especially in tribal regions. He also discussed initiatives for women's empowerment and support for marginalized individuals, showcasing the organization’s commitment to improving societal conditions.
