Guwahati, 21 March (HS): Guwahati City Police has arrested two prominent rebels of the Maoist separatist outfit group Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group - KCP - PWG) active in Manipur under a special operation. This organization has been involved in extortion and illegal smuggling of weapons.

The accused, arrested from ISBT in Gorchuk police station area of Guwahati on the basis of secret information, have been identified as Maisnam Bungochouba Singh (42, resident: Haotak Tampha Khunhou, PS Kumbi, District Bishnupur. Profile: Arms supplier) and Teksha Ibomcha Singh (42, resident: Village Pukhao, PS Sagolmang, District Imphal East. Profile: Senior commander of KCP (PWG), wanted in several cases of extortion and arms smuggling).

The operation was carried out based on vital information from Gajraj Military Intelligence to avert any potential threat from these militants.
