Haridwar, March 18 (H.S.): The 62nd All India Classical Competition was inaugurated at Patanjali University in Haridwar on Tuesday. Around 1500 students and mentors from 30 states and union territories of the country are participating in this competition. Scholars and Sanskrit enthusiasts from across the country reaffirmed their commitment to the preservation and promotion of India's ancient knowledge tradition.

The event was chaired by Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The program will continue until March 21.

The chief guest, Acharya Balakrishna, Vice-Chancellor of Patanjali University, stated that Sanskrit is not just an ancient language but a remarkable confluence of spirituality, science, and culture. Through such events, we will succeed in passing on this invaluable heritage to future generations.

Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, mentioned that the Sanskrit language is not merely a medium of communication but the soul of Indian culture. The contribution of the younger generation is extremely essential for its promotion. He emphasized that this All India Classical Competition serves as a very important platform for the preservation and dissemination of the Sanskrit language. Through this competition, students not only get the opportunity to showcase their knowledge in various fields such as Vedic literature, philosophy, grammar, law, astrology, literature, and music, but they also become proficient in the profound mysteries of Sanskrit by learning from each other. This competition will raise awareness about Sanskrit and instill interest and respect for this invaluable language in the new generation. The 62nd All India Classical Competition symbolizes the glorious history of the Sanskrit language and is a significant step towards preserving India's cultural heritage.

On this occasion, Prof. C.G. Vijay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Panini Sanskrit Vedic University, and Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, shared their thoughts on the importance of Sanskrit while encouraging the students. N.P. Singh, Chairman of the Indian Education Board, also expressed his views.
