Guwahati, March 16 (HS): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working tirelessly day and night to serve its customers and ensure faster delivery of essential commodities to the end users. Making continuous progress in freight transportation, NFR recorded 0.956 million tonnes (MT) of goods loading in various commodities in February.
Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that in February several commodities registered significant growth in freight loading as compared to the same period last year. Container loading increased by 44.4%, cement loading by 37.5%, dolomite loading by 26.7% and fertilizer loading by 5.0%. Additionally, other sectors such as ballast loading by 27.3%, stone chips by 50.5% and bamboo loading by 800% registered significant growth as compared to the previous financial year.
The continuous increase in freight loading reflects the growing economic activity in the region. The total freight loading of Pusa Railway till February reached 9.627 million tonnes, which shows a growth of 4.9% compared to the same period last year. This rising trend has not only strengthened the economic scenario of the region but has also contributed significantly to the revenue of Pusa Railway. Moving forward, Pusa Railway is committed towards technological advancement to enhance service reliability and efficiency, so as to ensure continuous growth in freight transportation.
