Ujjain, March 14 (H.S.): Holi was celebrated at the renowned Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, marking the start of the Dhulendi festival with a special Bhasma Aarti on Friday morning. Following tradition, priests offered herbal colors to Lord Mahakal to initiate the celebrations, adorning him during the ritual.

The temple opened at 4 AM, where priests performed worship and water abhishekam for Lord Mahakal, using Panchamrit made from water, milk, yogurt, ghee, sugar, and fruit juices. After the initial prayers and ringing of the first bell, holy water was poured in reverence, accompanied by rituals involving camphor Aarti, bhang, and tripund adorning Mahakal's forehead. The deity was beautifully decorated with royal accoutrements, including bhang, dry fruits, sandalwood ornaments, and flowers.

The festivities saw herbal colors offered by the temple committee to Lord Mahakal and Nandi Ji following the presentation of sacred ash. Lord Mahakal was adorned with a silver crown, garland, and fragrant flower arrangements, while devotees gathered for blessings during the Bhasma Aarti.

Additionally, Holi celebrations across Madhya Pradesh began with vibrant displays in localities, and a grand procession was planned in Bhopal, where traditional Braj Holi games were played at the Chief Minister's residence, accompanied by folk songs. The inclusive atmosphere highlighted the joy of the festival as community members participated in the festivities.
