NEW DELHI, 14 March (H.S.) : In response to the escalating air pollution in Delhi, a
high-level review meeting convened on Thursday evening, chaired by Chief
Minister Rekha Gupta. Senior officials from various relevant departments,
including the Urban Development Department, MCD, DPCC, DDA, Delhi Traffic
Police, and PWD, attended the meeting. Chief Minister Gupta announced that to
mitigate dust pollution in the capital, smog guns and sprinklers will be
utilized on the roads year-round, with the exception of the monsoon season.
Additionally, directives have been issued to enhance the enforcement team
responsible for conducting pollution-related vehicle checks in the border areas
of Delhi.
In order to manage the pollution generated by vehicles
entering Delhi from other states, stringent monitoring will be implemented at
the borders. The Chief Minister has instructed an increase in the number of
enforcement teams to address pollution concerns and the installation of digital
display boards at entry points to raise public awareness regarding pollution
protection measures.
The Delhi government has instructed the Municipal
Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Public Works Department (PWD), the Delhi
Development Authority (DDA), and other relevant agencies to provide weekly
updates concerning the maintenance and sanitation of roads. Additionally,
officials are required to conduct regular inspections to guarantee that the
roads are kept free of dust and debris. The Chief Minister emphasized the
government's dedication to ensuring clean air for the residents, stating that
all necessary measures will be implemented to mitigate air pollution.
Chief Minister Gupta announced that, in accordance with the
Delhi Resolution formulated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi, the government has initiated extensive measures to address air pollution.
All relevant departments have been directed to devise a robust action plan
aimed at ensuring a clean and pollution-free Delhi.
