New Delhi, March 14 (H.S.): A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Kargil & Ladakh on Friday at 2:50 AM on Thursday-Friday.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 15 kilometers. Approximately three hours later, at 6 AM, tremors were also registered in Northeast India.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 was measured in the western Kameng area of Arunachal Pradesh. Leh and Ladakh fall within seismic zone IV, which means they are highly risk-prone areas when it comes to earthquakes. Due to their location in the tectonically active Himalayas, Leh and Ladakh frequently experience earthquakes.
