NEW DELHI, 11 March (H.S.): The Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the site of
the fire incident in Anand Vihar, where three workers tragically lost their
lives. During her visit to the Shahdara district, she gathered information
regarding the incident and met with the families of the victims. In a show of
support, she announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the affected families.
The visit was attended by local MLA Om Prakash Sharma, Municipal Councillor Dr.
Monika Pant, the District Magistrate of Shahdara, the DCP of Shahdara, and the
Deputy Commissioner of the Delhi Municipal Corporation.
She gathered information regarding the entire incident from
the officials present at the scene and met with the victim's family, offering
them her support. She characterized the accident as tragic and pledged to
provide Rs 10 lakh in compensation to the victim's family. Additionally, she
assured them of all possible assistance. Furthermore, directives have been
issued to the relevant officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the
incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The Chief Minister
expressed that this accident is deeply sorrowful and extended heartfelt
sympathy to the families of the victims. All three deceased individuals were
residents of Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh.
On this occasion, Om Prakash Sharma reported that three
individuals have lost their lives, while one labourer was fortunate enough to
escape. The MLA indicated that the investigation has determined that a lamp was
left burning inside the slum, which led to the fire spreading and ultimately
resulted in the deaths of the three labourers. He further mentioned that the
Chief Minister visited the families of the deceased and the injured, offering
them condolences and assuring them of all possible assistance.
On Monday night, three labourers residing in a slum in the
Anand Vihar area tragically lost their lives in a fire incident. Among the
deceased were two brothers. The three individuals were asleep in the slum when
a fire broke out, leading to an explosion of a gas cylinder. The hut was secured
from the inside, preventing the three workers from escaping. Fortunately, one labourer
was able to escape and survive the ordeal.
