Tamil Nadu, 7 February (H.S.): Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai has strongly criticized the DMK government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, over the alarming rise in crimes against women in the state.
Slamming Chief Minister M K Stalin led DMK regime for the enormity of frequency of sexual assault against women in the state, Tamil Nadu BJP president, K Annamalai on Friday,7th Feb.,, 2025 sought know if the chief minister is not even bothered about the lack of safety for women of all ages in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai pointed out that there has been a shocking 55% surge in child marriages and an 8.3% increase in crimes against women, highlighting the government's failure to ensure women's safety and security.
He also expressed disappointment over the support extended by local DMK leaders, MLAs, and ministers to the perpetrators of crimes against women. Annamalai cited the recent case of a female student at Anna University, where the accused is allegedly a DMK functionary.
Furthermore, Annamalai condemned the Tamil Nadu Police for making public the details of the victim's identity and residential address through the FIR copy, compromising her safety and anonymity.
The BJP President demanded that the DMK government take immediate action to address the rising crimes against women and ensure justice for the victims.
We urge the government to take concrete steps to prevent such heinous crimes and provide adequate support and protection to the victims, Annamalai said.
The BJP will continue to raise its voice against the government's inaction and demand justice for the women of Tamil Nadu.
