07 Feb (H.S.): Authorities said two accused livestock smugglers were hurt
during a confrontation with police in Meerut's Nauchandi region on Friday. The
altercation, which resulted in the arrest of four more accomplices, happened during
the wee hours as police confronted the accused. The Nauchandi police and SWAT
unit worked together on the operation.
Officials
claimed the encounter was related to a cow slaughter case lodged on February 1
by Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kumar. The accused opened fire on police, resulting in
retaliation and two wounded. Six people were arrested in connection with the
event, which involved cow slaughter. Firearms and tools were retrieved. The
incident occurred following the filing of a FIR after a cow corpse was
discovered.
