Mumbai, 06 Feb (HS):- A senior cricket analyst
Dwarkanath Sanzgiri passed away on Thursday following a prolonged illness at
Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. He was 74. The last rites will be performed at
Shivaji Park crematorium on Friday.
Born on November 15, 1950 Dwarkanath worked as
engineer with the Bombay Municipal Corporation. While working with the BMC he started
as cricket critic and earned name in the field. He earned fame as story teller
on interesting events in cricket and about cricketers.
Struggling with cancer he continued writing till
last month’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy matches in Australia. He also covered
almost all the cricket world cups including the historical 1983 World Cup,
which India won.
Dwarkanath started writing about cricket in late
1970’s and later penned books including ‘Cricket Cocktail’ ‘Cricketers chya
manatle’, ‘Ashru ani Shatkar’ ‘Adlatun Awaliye’, and also wrote about films. He
was very popular among the cricketers.
