Tamil Nadu Law Minister Questions on Governors' Actions

Tamil Nadu, 5 February (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Law Minister S Regupathy has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's understanding of the actions of governors in non-BJP ruled states.

Minister Regupathy specifically referenced Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi's conduct during assembly addresses, stating that the governor has consistently disregarded legislative traditions. Despite being invited to address the assembly, Governor Ravi has failed to read the customary address prepared by the state government, instead choosing to speak extemporaneously or leave abruptly.

The law minister emphasized that the Prime Minister has acknowledged the legal requirement for governors to act in accordance with the state government, and questioned Governor Ravi's actions in light of this.
