Amravati, 05 Feb (HS):- The third conference of
Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti will be held at Nagpur on March 23 and 24. The
Committee aims to increase support for the long pending demand of carving out
separate Vidarbha, informed former MLA Adv Wamanrao Chatap in a press conference
in Amravati.
The non-violent agitation for Vidarbha will continue
as the region has remained neglected after inclusion in the Maharashtra State.
During the conference backlog of the region will be placed, Chatap said.
Generating awareness about increasing suicides by farmers, malnourishment among
children, growing infant and maternal mortality, Naxalite menace, unemployment, and seeking the support of people for the demand are some of the issues to be
discussed.
Renowned economist Dr Shriniwas Khandewale will
speak on how Vidarbha can be a surplus state. The demand for a separate Vidarbha
is 120 years old and should be formed as provided under Article 3 of the
Constitution.
