Washington, February 4 (HS): After Mexico, the US has also postponed the decision to impose tariffs on Canada for 30 days. This decision was taken when both countries agreed to further strengthen border security. Two days ago, Trump had announced a tariff of 25-25 percent on Mexico and Canada and 10 percent on China.

About 24 hours after this decision, Trump agreed to postpone the tariffs for a month after talking to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. The tariffs imposed on imports from China will continue for the time being.

US President Donald Trump has said that after taking steps to stop illegal drugs like fentanyl from entering the US through the Canadian border, it has been decided to stop the tariffs for 30 days. Earlier, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau promised to appoint a special investigation team to stop the smuggling of fentanyl during a phone conversation with Trump.

Trudeau has said in a post shared on Instagram that he promised to increase border security in his conversation with Trump, after which Trump agreed to postpone the tariff. Trudeau has promised to spend 1.3 billion Canadian dollars for border security.

Confirming this, Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth, Canada has ensured that its northern border with the US will be safe.

Earlier on Monday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that after talks with US President Trump, the tariff imposed on Mexico has been postponed for a month.

Mexican President Sheinbaum wrote on social media that Mexico will deploy 10 thousand National Guards on the border to stop the smuggling of drugs like fentanyl. Along with this, the President of Mexico said that both the countries will continue talks on security and trade and the tariff has now been postponed for a month.
