North Maharashtra University and Jalgaon District Collectorate entered a

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to carry out research on the root cause of

farmers committing suicide and government’s intervention for their livelihood.

A survey of 330 affected farmer families will be

carried out through the District Planning Office with a focus on economic,

social, and psychological factors causing farmers to take extreme steps, and

gaps in extending the government help.

Suggestions on steps to be taken for their

rehabilitation, employment, economic and social security will be made. The study

is expected to be completed by May 5, 2025.
