Kamalanagar (Mizoram), 04 February (HS): BJP leader Malin Kumar Chakma took oath as 'Chief Executive Member' (CEM) of 'Chakma Autonomous District Council' (CADC). He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Additional District Magistrate of Longtlai district Zoramsiama Mar at the CADC headquarters in Kamalanagar on Tuesday afternoon. Since District Magistrate Simala Sivagopal Reddy was out of the district, Additional District Magistrate Zoramsiama administered the oath to the new CEM Malin Kumar Chakma.
Earlier, a grand reception was organized at the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) headquarters Kamalanagar to welcome the newly appointed Chief Executive Member (CEM) Malin Kumar Chakma on his return from the capital Aizawl. He was accompanied by BJP CADC District President Duryadhan Chakma, MDC Amit Bayan Chakma and other party leaders.
It is noteworthy that on January 31, on the basis of appointment by Mizoram Governor General (Retired) Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, the Secretary of the District Council and Minority Affairs of the Mizoram Government issued a notification asking Malin Kumar Chakma to take oath as the Chief Executive Officer of the CADC.
The appointment of BJP leader Malin Kumar Chakma as the Chief Executive Officer of the CADC is considered a historic milestone. Because, for the first time a BJP-led government has been formed in the CADC with an absolute majority. The formation of the new CADC government became possible after the District Council Members (MDC) of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and Mizo National Front (MNF) joined the BJP.
