Signs of growth from global markets, Asian markets also remained strong


New Delhi, 28 February (HS): Signs of weakness are being seen in global market today. US market fell prey to a big decline in the last session. Dow Jones futures are also seen trading weak today. European markets closed after trading mixed during the last session. There is pressure all around in Asian markets today.

US market fell prey to a big decline during the last session due to the US President once again announcing to impose 25 percent tariff on Mexico and Canada from March 4. As per Donald Trump's announcement, an additional tariff of 10 percent will also start being imposed on China from March 4. After Trump's announcement on Thursday, there was a stampede in the US market, due to which the Wall Street index collapsed.

S&P 500 index closed at 5,879.80 with a fall of 1.28 percent. Similarly, Nasdaq ended the previous session at 18,550.63 points, down 524.63 points or 2.75 percent. Dow Jones Futures is currently trading at 43,218.40 points with a weakness of 0.05 percent.

European markets closed with mixed results during the previous session. The FTSE index closed at 8,756.21 points with a strength of 0.28 percent. On the other hand, the CAC index ended the previous session at 8,102.52 points with a decline of 0.51 percent. Apart from this, the DAX index closed at 22,550.89 points with a weakness of 243.22 points or 1.08 percent.

All-round selling pressure is also seen in the Asian markets today. Out of 9 Asian markets, 8 indices are trading in red with a fall. On the other hand, there is no movement in Taiwan Weighted Index today due to a holiday in Taiwan Stock Exchange.

GIFT Nifty is trading at 22,385 points with a weakness of 265.50 points i.e. 1.17 percent. Similarly, the Straits Times Index has fallen by 0.79 percent to reach the level of 3,890.04 points. A big fall is seen in the Nikkei Index today. Currently, this index is trading at 37,094.29 points with a weakness of 1,161.88 points i.e. 3.04 percent.

Similarly, the KOSPI Index has fallen by 2.80 percent to reach the level of 2,548.32 points. Apart from this, Jakarta Composite Index slipped 181.59 points or 2.80 percent to 6,303.86 points, Hang Seng Index fell 546.60 points or 2.36 percent to 23,171.69 points, SET Composite Index fell 1.52 percent to 1,197.20 points and Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.89 percent to 3,358.28 points.
