Madrid, 28 February (HS): Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has suffered hamstring injury during the 1-0 win against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey. The club confirmed this on Thursday.

In the second half of the match, Ceballos collided with home player Take Kubo, after which he left the field groaning in pain. Real Madrid said on its official website, Medical tests have found an injury to the semimembranosus muscle, which is affecting the tendon of his left hamstring. His recovery period will be assessed.

Although the club did not give a definite time frame for recovery, according to reports, Ceballos may have to be out for at least two months. Due to this injury, he may miss the Champions League last-16 match, possible quarter-finals, several La Liga matches and the return leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

Ceballos expressed his feelings on social media, writing, It is sad to get this setback at the time when I was in my best form. Football is not easy or fair, but I have to face it strongly. I have come back from even more difficult times.

28-year-old Ceballos, who has previously played for Real Betis and Arsenal, has been an important player for Carlo Ancelotti's team in recent weeks. He was in his best form since joining the club in 2017, so this injury can prove to be a big setback for Real Madrid.
