NEW DELHI, 27 February (H.S.) : The Union Home Ministry has

withdrawn the personal security of 32 leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The

Review Committee of the Home Ministry released the list, which includes the

names of some BJP leaders who lost in last year's Lok Sabha election.

According to

the ministry’s list, apart from former Union Minister John Barla, former MP

Dashrath Tirkey, BJP leader Shankudev Panda, and former IPS officer Debashish

Dhar, Rajya Sabha MP Shamik Bhattacharya is included in the list of 32 people

whose security has been removed.

Sources Said

that this is a routine matter; every three months the Union Home Ministry

releases a list in this regard; they have a protocol; if they found they can

provide security again. This is the list of those who have given security

before their election; now it will be reviewed. He said that just a few days

ago a list containing the names of 20 people had been released; again, many

people were given security.

One MP said

that the centre decides who needs to be provided security & when, and

accordingly, security is provided. He said that there should not be any

politics to be involved; the Home Ministry must have felt that there is no need

to provide security to these leaders.
