Jyotirlinga Somnath Temple located in Somnath, Gujarat is one of the 12 important Jyotirlingas in the country. Keeping in mind its importance and to ensure that the devotees coming for darshan get clean and safe prasad. For this, Somnath Temple has been audited by a third party audit agency and it has been given FSSAI's Eat Right Place of Worship certificate. The Gujarat government is constantly trying to ensure that the prasad offered to God in the temples of the state is of high quality.
Eat Right Place of Worship (POW) is an initiative of FSSAI, which aims to encourage places of worship (POW) to adopt and maintain food safety and hygiene. Its objective is to prevent irregularities in the food served in Prasad, Langar etc. in places of worship and create awareness about them. Along with this, compliance of rules and regulations under food safety and standard is to be ensured. For this, FSSAI's panelized audit agency conducts audit in temples etc. After that, the audit is done again after giving FOSTAC training to the persons associated with Prasad. After this, FSSAI's Eat Right Place of Worship certificate is given only after checking the quality of food.
