New Delhi, February 24 (HS): The Election Commission has decided to hold a two-day conference with the Chief Electoral Officers of all the States and Union Territories on March 4-5 at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management, New Delhi. This is the first such conference since Gyanesh Kumar took over as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
According to the Election Commission, for the first time, Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) have been directed to nominate one DEO and one ERO to participate in the conference. As statutory officers, CEO, DEO and ERO are important officials at the state, district and assembly constituency levels.
The two-day conference provides a platform for the election officers of the states and union territories to brainstorm and learn from each other's experiences. On the first day of the conference, important areas of modern election management will be discussed, including IT architecture, effective communication, promoting social media outreach and the statutory role of various officials in the election process. On the second day of the conference, the CEOs of states and union territories will present their action plans on the thematic discussions of the previous day.
