New Delhi, February 20 (HS): The stock market closed with a decline for the third consecutive trading session on Thursday, the fourth day of the week, amid uncertainty over the imposition of tariffs by the US. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed at 75,735.96, down 203.22 points or 0.27 percent. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty slipped 19.75 points or 0.086 percent to close at 22,913.15.
At the end of trading, weak Asian markets and withdrawal of foreign funds also weakened investor sentiment. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 15 stocks declined, while 15 stocks rose. At the same time, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 22 stocks declined and 28 stocks rose.
HDFC Bank, Maruti, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, ITC, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finance, which are among the major stocks of Sensex, have declined. At the same time, NTPC, Adani Ports, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel and IndusInd Bank remained in profit.
Apart from this, South Korea's KOSPI, Japan's Nikkei, China's Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng closed down in other Asian markets. European markets were in the lead in afternoon trading.
A day earlier on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex closed with a decline of 28 points at 75,939. At the same time, NSE Nifty also closed at 22,932, down 12 points.
