Chennai, 20 February (H.S.) : The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen and seized their three boats for allegedly fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters. The fishermen were apprehended while fishing in the sea north of Mannar and off Neduntheevu on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The arrested fishermen have been identified as M Jothirajan, K Ramu, M Arul George, A Kennedy, R John Muthukumar, N Loveson, R Paul Raj, S Don Bosco, L Antony Raj, and M Antonyselvan.

Four fishermen were remanded in judicial custody till March 7 and lodged in a Vavuniya prison, while the remaining six were remanded till March 4 and lodged in Jaffna prison.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has urged External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to take diplomatic efforts to secure the immediate release of the arrested fishermen and their fishing boats.
