Kolkata, 20 February (H.S.) : Governor C.B. Anand Bose
went to Kumbh Mela on 17th February. Not involved in political debate, as a
common man he has addressed this fair as 'Mrityunjoy Mela’.
Nowadays, everywhere there
is discussion/Political debate over Kumbh Mela in India. BJP activists holding many
agitations in response to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s speech in the
ongoing Assembly session. When Governor C.B. Anand Bose was asked in this
regard on Thursday, the constitutional head of Bengal gave different
explanations. Please make it clear that I do not want to participate in
political debate as Governor. However, he mentioned as a common man, Kumbh Mela
is as ‘Mukti Mela’, ‘Mrityunjoy Mela’.
Today was the official
launch of the book ‘Devdooter Sannidhye’ at Raj Bhavan. Goa Governor PS
Shridharan Pillai, Padma Shri Narendranath Roy and Kerala writer A Santosh
Kumar were present in this function. After the event, in response to the
questions of the journalists, the Governor said, “I do not want to participate
in any political debate. Honorable Chief Minister has expressed her views in
view of various situations on the basis of her constitutional and political
rights. This is the structure of Indian democracy. I welcome the Chief
Minister's speech in this beautiful democratic manner. I went there, Ahom
Brahmasmi.” Governor C.B. Anand Bose went to Kumbh Mela on 17th
February. Picking up on that context, he further says, “Kumbha Mela represents
the most sacred thing in the great culture and tradition of India. This is a
symbol of pride for all Indians. Common people from different parts of the
world are coming here voluntarily. India is driven by a great power and Kumbh
Mela represents our culture. Kumbh Mela, is the fair of freedom, the fair of winning
the death”.
The governor said about
the book 'Devadooter Sannidhye', When a governor writes a book, he shares
his knowledge. It is above politics.''
