In a tragic incident, a high-voltage panel board exploded in North Chennai, resulting in the death of one person and injuring another.

A 30-year-old worker was killed while another sustained injuries after a 'high voltage panel board' exploded in a bio-gas plant run by the Greater Chennai Corporation in the northern part of the city, police said on Sunday.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred due to a technical glitch in the panel board. The impact of the blast was so severe that it damaged nearby buildings and vehicles.

The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old electrician who was working on the panel board at the time of the explosion. Another person, who was passing by the area, suffered injuries and has been hospitalized.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
