Washington, February 01 (HS): The six most senior officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States and several heads of FBI field offices across the country have been fired. The total number of such officers is said to be more than 24. Among them are many officers who investigated the January 6 Capitol riots. This is the biggest action taken against FBI officials as soon as President Donald Trump began his second term. The FBI is the most important agency of the United States Department of Justice.

According to NBC News, a letter has also been sent to these dismissed officers. It states that this action has been taken for their role in the prosecution of the January 6 riots. The letter also cites an executive order of Trump. It describes the January 6 prosecution as a serious national injustice. It also says that this injustice was done to the American people for the last four years.

Brian J., the acting director of the bureau, who came under the target of the Trump administration. In a letter sent to the FBI workforce on Friday night, Driscoll said that a few days ago, acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bowe had asked him for a list of all FBI employees involved in the investigation. These officers have been dismissed a day after the testimony of Kash Patel, nominated for the post of FBI Director. However, when asked by a journalist on Friday afternoon, Trump said that he was not aware of this. But he definitely commented that there are some very bad people in the bureau. He feels that some FBI officials need to be removed.

According to NBC News, Assistant Director David Sundberg, in charge of the FBI's Washington Field Office, was informed on Thursday itself that he was going to lose his job and should prepare to leave the bureau. The top officials who have been removed from the FBI are Robert Wells, Ryan Young, Robert Nordwall, Arlene Gaylord, Jackie Maguire and J. William Rivers. Apart from this, Special Agent in Charge in Miami Jeffrey Veltri has also been shown the way out. Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Las Vegas Field Office Spencer Evans has also been fired by the Trump administration.
