Guwahati, 06 December (HS):

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continues to work round the clock to serve its customers and ensure the timely delivery of essential commodities. In November 2025, NFR achieved a total freight loading of 0.908 million tonnes (MT), registering a 29.3% increase over the corresponding period of the previous year. Cumulatively, up to November of the current financial year, NFR loaded 7.298 million tonnes, surpassing last year’s figure of 6.851 million tonnes and marking an overall growth of 6.5%.

Several key commodities recorded significant growth during November 2025 compared to the same month last year. Cement loading soared by 405.3%, while fertilizer loading increased by 242.9%. Dolomite loading rose by 99.1%, and coal loading registered a remarkable jump of 460%. In the “Others” category, stone chips showed a sharp increase of 158.8%, while bamboo loading went up by 55%, reflecting higher demand for construction-related materials across the region.

The steady rise in freight loading highlights growing economic activity in the region. This upward trend has strengthened the regional economy and contributed notably to NFR’s revenue. Going forward, NFR remains committed to adopting technical advancements to enhance service reliability and operational efficiency, ensuring sustained growth in freight transportation.
