
Mumbai, 30 Dec (HS): A Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST)
bus ran over 13 pedestrians outside Mumbai’s Bhandup local station, four of
which died and nine were injured. The accident occurred around 8.35 pm when the
driver was taking the bus backwards. The deceased include three women. The
injured were rushed to Rajawadi and M T Agrawal Hospitals. The number of deaths
are likely to increase.
BET officials, police, ambulances and Fire Brigade
teams rushed to the site and started the rescue operation. The bus driver was
taken into custody by the police.
DCP Hemraj Sinh Rajput said an office against the
drover was registered for negligence while driving leading to deaths of four. Forensic
experts collected samples from the accident sites for further investigation.
CM ANNOUNCED HELP: Maharashtra Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis announced financial support of Rs 5 lakh each to the families
of the deceased and expressed grief over the accident. He paid tributes to the
deceased and wished early recovery for injured.
