
Jammu, 26 December (H.S.): Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Advisory Board for the Development of Pahari Speaking People, Sapna Kotwal today concluded a three-day tour of the Pir Panjal region, covering Sunderbani, Nowshera, Rajouri, Surankote and Poonch.
During her tour, she inspected Boys’ and Girls’ Pahari Hostels in Rajouri and Poonch and reviewed hostel infrastructure, including accommodation, sanitation, food facilities and other basic amenities.
She interacted with students and staff, listened to their concerns and assured them that genuine issues would be addressed on priority.
Kotwal also held extensive interactions with civil society members, legal professionals, youth groups and other stakeholders.
On the first day, she was welcomed by the Sunderbani Pahari Club led by Advocate Manik Raina.
In Nowshera, she met members of the Bar Association under Advocate Gourav Parasher, and later interacted with civil society members in Rajouri led by Vikrant Sharma.
Discussions focused on education, social welfare and legal awareness within the Pahari community.
On the second day in Poonch, she met several delegations, including members of Sanatan Dharam Sabha led by Khetarpal Sharma, Bar Association members led by Advocate Sunil Sharma, Haq Insaaf Council under Syed Zeeshan, Pahari Tribe ST Forum represented by Sanjeev Sharma, SSEM-SOCH India led by Dr Sarfraz Mir, Pahari activists and members of the Pulastya Foundation.
The delegations raised issues related to education, social justice and legal challenges.
Kotwal also attended a Taekwondo Championship as Chief Guest, where she praised the organisers, especially Rajinder Singh, for promoting sports and positive youth engagement. She encouraged young athletes to stay disciplined and focused.
