Jammu, 26 December (H.S.): MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta today addressed a women empowerment programme, stressing the vital role of women in building a strong and self-reliant society.

Speaking before a large gathering, he called upon women to take active steps toward financial independence by forming Self Help Groups (SHGs) and participating in income-generating activities.

Addressing the participants, Arvind Gupta said, “Women are the real backbone of our society. When a woman becomes economically independent the entire family and community progress,. Self Help Groups are one of the strongest tools to achieve this goal.” He encouraged women to come together, save regularly, and start small enterprises that can grow into stable sources of income.

The MLA highlighted that SHGs not only help women earn but also develop leadership, confidence, and decision-making skills. He added that such groups create a sense of unity and mutual support, which is essential for long-term social and economic growth.

Arvind Gupta also praised Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for placing women empowerment at the center of national development.

He said, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Modi, women have received new opportunities through schemes such as Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and the promotion of Self Help Groups across the country.”

He stated that these initiatives have helped millions of women become entrepreneurs and active contributors to the economy.

The MLA further said that the Central Government is committed to providing skill development, financial assistance, and market linkages to women so they can turn their ideas into successful businesses. He urged women to make full use of these schemes and become role models in their communities.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from women belonging to different areas of Jammu West. Several participants shared their experiences and expressed interest in forming SHGs to improve their financial condition.
