

Kolkata, 26 December (H.S.) : Army Public School Barrackpore celebrated its Annual Sports Day 2025 for Classes IX to XII on Friday with great enthusiasm and splendour, highlighting the theme “Inclusive India – We Are the Champs.” The event showcased athletic excellence, discipline and the spirit of unity within the school campus.
The programme was graced by eminent Indian archer, Arjuna Awardee and World Champion Ms Dola Banerjee as the Chief Guest. Her presence added prestige to the occasion. Brigadier Ashish Hooda, SM, Chairman of Army Public School Barrackpore, felicitated the Chief Guest with a token of honour.
The celebrations began with a welcome song by the school choir, followed by the ceremonial flag hoisting by the Chief Guest, symbolising pride, perseverance and purpose. The release of pigeons added to the grandeur of the ceremony. Ms Mahua Hazra, Senior Secondary Coordinator, presented the Annual Report, highlighting the school’s academic and co-curricular achievements.
A disciplined and well-coordinated March Past by the student contingents reflected precision, determination and team spirit. This was followed by a series of athletic events, including track races and the Mixed Relay Race of 400 metres, where students displayed endurance, teamwork and competitive zeal.
A visually engaging tableau depicting inclusivity and national harmony became one of the highlights of the day. The Prize Distribution Ceremony recognised students for their outstanding performances and perseverance in sports.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Ms Dola Banerjee emphasised the role of sports in character building, leadership development and fostering social harmony. Her motivational address inspired students to pursue excellence both in sports and academics.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms Kavita Rudra, Secondary Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, school management, teachers, parents, students and all contributors for the successful conduct of the programme.
