
Guwahati, 25 December (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party observed ‘Good Governance Day’ across Assam on the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Programmes were held at the state, district, mandal and booth levels to honour his legacy of inclusive and people-centric governance.
According to a statement, the observance began from December 24 at the BJP Assam Pradesh headquarters with the lighting of one thousand earthen lamps by the BJP Mahila Morcha. On December 25, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma paid floral tributes to Vajpayee’s portrait in the presence of BJP state president Dilip Saikia, Cabinet Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu and party leaders. A photo exhibition on Vajpayee’s life and contributions was also organised.
Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Saikia said Vajpayee laid the foundation of modern India through landmark initiatives in defence, infrastructure and national development and that his vision of good governance continues to guide the nation.----------
