Chennai, 25 December (H.S.) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday asserted that attacks on minorities are unacceptable and stated that curbing riotous groups is a shared and urgent duty that must be enforced with firm resolve.
Through a social media post, the Chief Minister emphasized that the true strength and character of the majority population lies in ensuring that minority communities can live without fear. He expressed concern over reports of violence emerging from various parts of the country, noting that such incidents undermine the social fabric and harmony of the nation.
Referring to recent reports from places like Jabalpur and Raipur, the Chief Minister pointed out that the occurrence of attacks by right wing violent groups, even as the Prime Minister participates in Christmas celebrations, sends a disturbing message.
He stated that after the situation in Manipur, any further reports of attacks on minorities are unacceptable to anyone who values communal harmony. Stalin highlighted that it is a collective responsibility to stop groups that seek to divide society based on religious or communal lines.
The Chief Minister further claimed that there has been a reported seventy four percent rise in hate speech against minorities since the current central government assumed office. He warned that such a trend signals grave danger ahead for the democratic and secular nature of the country.
