Guwahati, 23 December (HS): A youth was burnt to death after coming into contact with a high-voltage electric wire in the Chandmari area of Guwahati on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred when the victim came in contact with the high-capacity overhead electric wire installed by the Railways for running electric locomotives in the Chandmari locality. The man killed on the spot due to electrocution, while a nearby oil tanker narrowly escaped catching fire.

On receiving information, a team of the Railway Police reached the spot and took custody of the body. The deceased was sent to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Till the filing of this report, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated efforts to establish the identity of the victim.
