Nadia, 20 December (H.S.): Amidst the ongoing political tensions in West Bengal over the SIR, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to the state on Saturday. A public meeting is organized in Taherpur, Nadia district.

Meanwhile, four people were killed on the spot after being hit by a train, while two others sustained serious injuries. The injured was immediately admitted to Shaktinagar Hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.

As per information, the accident occurred near Taherpur station on Saturday morning. Forty people from Sabladah village in Barwan, Murshidabad, had gone to attend Modi's rally on Friday night. Some of them had gone to relieve themselves near the railway tracks in the morning. At that time, four people were hit by a train and fell onto the tracks. The injuries were so severe that they died on the spot. Another person was admitted to the local Shaktinagar Hospital in a critical condition.

Initial investigations suggest that the accident occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog in the morning. The victims were unable to see the approaching train. However, other possible causes are also being investigated.
