Jalpaiguri, 20 December (H.S.): The bodies of two young men were found hanging in a room in the house of a man named Jayprakash Pandit, located near the bus stand in Malbazar town, on Friday night.

According to local sources, the two men had moved into the rented accommodation ago. The deceased have been identified as Sanjib Barman (20) and Anup Roy (21). Sanjib Barman was a resident of Chhoto Shalkumar village under Falakata police station in Alipurduar district, while Anup Roy was from Dhupjhora under Medli police station.

On information, Malbazar police arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sanjib Barman had been missing since the 15th of this month. A missing person's report had also been filed at the Falakata police station. Based on mobile tower location data, Falakata police had traced his whereabouts to the Malbazar area.

Anup's family members arrived at Malbazar hospital on Friday night. Anup's father was reportedly in a state of shock and unable to speak. A neighbour, Biten Roy, said that the deceased young man had told his family that he was working as a priest in a temple.

The police found both young men hanging from the same rope inside the room. Malbazar police are currently investigating the entire incident. On Saturday, the police informed that the families of both men had been notified of their deaths. The bodies are being sent to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are awaiting the post-mortem report.
