
Varanasi,
20 Dec (HS): Maya Tissafi, Swiss Ambassador to India and Bhutan, arrived in
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday for a two-day visit. During this visit,
she inspected the ropeway project under construction in the city. India's first
urban ropeway is being built by National Highway Logistics Management Limited
(NHLML) in collaboration with the Swiss company Berthollet.
During
the inspection, experts from the Berthollet Company provided information on the
project's safety measures and technical aspects. After reviewing the ropeway
construction, Ambassador Maya Tissafi provided necessary guidance to officials
and praised the project. She stated that the Varanasi Ropeway is a landmark
urban mobility project under the auspices of NHLML. It will ease traffic
congestion in the city's narrow streets and offer a new example of modern
transportation.
The
Ambassador stated that this project will not only facilitate urban
transportation but also strengthen the local economy, promote tourism, and
preserve the spiritual essence of Varanasi. Officials from the National Highway
Logistics Management Limited warmly welcomed the Swiss Ambassador on the occasion.
