
Kolkata, 18 December (H.S.): A massive fire erupted late Wednesday night at an oxygen cylinder warehouse in Kakurgachi. The entire area was shaken by the sound of exploding cylinders. The warehouse was completely destroyed in the fierce blaze. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM. No casualties have been reported so far. The fire was brought under control by Thursday morning.
As per information, a fire broke out at an oxygen warehouse in Maniktala late Wednesday night. The cause of the fire is not yet clear. Local residents claimed that as the fire spread, the cylinders began exploding one after another. On information, several fire engines rushed to the scene. Firefighters worked on a war footing, and the fire was brought under control by morning. However, firefighting efforts are still underway in some areas.
The incident caused widespread panic in the area. Local residents rushed out of their homes. The explosions were so powerful that the windows of several houses shattered. However, no injuries or casualties were reported.
Notably, earlier on Wednesday night, a fire had broken out in a slum in Newtown, destroying several shacks. This was followed by the fire at the oxygen cylinder warehouse in Kakurgachi late the same night. These two fire incidents in different parts of the city during the winter season have raised concerns.
The fire department has completely extinguished the fire, but monitoring continues as a precautionary measure. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
