Raipur, Chhattisgarh, 18 December (H.S.): Security forces engaged Maoist insurgents in a fierce encounter Thursday morning within the dense jungles of Golapalli area, Sukma district, resulting in the elimination of three rebels including a woman cadre, with suspicions of additional injuries among fleeing militants.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavhan confirmed the clash and casualties, noting intermittent gunfire persists as operations intensify. The slain insurgents hailed from the Kistaram Area Committee, comprising Madvi Joga alias Munna alias Jagat-ACM, Sodhi Bandi-ACM, and female fighter Nuppo Bajni-ACM.

Jungle Siege Traps Maoist Remnants

A District Reserve Guard (DRG) team cordoned off the forested zone, initiating a search that precipitated the firefight, according to police sources. Local authorities maintain vigilance, asserting the operation remains underway amid heightened security in this Naxal bastion notorious for ambushes and hit-and-run tactics. No security personnel casualties reported thus far, underscoring tactical encirclement's efficacy.
