Nadia, 15 December (H.S.): A seventh-grade student in Kalyani in Nadia district, committed suicide after being scolded and forbidden by his mother from going out with his friends. The minor's body was found hanging in his room on Sunday evening. The police have sent the body for post-mortem and have launched an investigation into the incident.

According to sources, the deceased was identified as Devarati Tapadar(14). He was a resident of the Simanta Taltala area of Ward No. 5 under Kalyani Municipality. He lived with his parents and studied in the seventh grade at a local school.

According to sources, Devarati had recently planned to go out with his friends. Naturally, he asked his mother for permission. However, he was denied permission, and instead, his mother scolded him. Angered by this, he went to his room.

Around 5:30 PM, his mother found the boy hanging in his room. Hearing her screams, neighbors rushed to the scene. Devarati was quickly brought down and taken to Kalyani Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital. The doctors on duty declared him dead.

The family members are devastated by the boy's death. His mother said, I never imagined he would take such a

step.
