New Delhi, 8 November (H.S.): In a significant move to bolster the nation's legal framework for the underprivileged, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Conference on “Strengthening Legal Aid Delivery Mechanisms” today on Saturday, at the Supreme Court of India.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver the inaugural address at approximately 5 PM .A key highlight of the event will be the launch of the Community Mediation Training Module, a new initiative by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). This module is designed to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and empower legal aid at the grassroots level.
The two-day conference, organized by NALSA, will serve as a platform for in-depth deliberations on critical components of the legal services landscape. Discussions will encompass the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System, the vital role of panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers, the functioning of permanent Lok Adalats, and the financial management of legal services institutions.
This national conference underscores the government's commitment to ensuring access to justice for all sections of society, a core mandate of NALSA since its inception under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. The event is expected to draw participation from legal luminaries, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country to collaboratively enhance the efficacy of legal aid delivery in India.
