Bhubaneswar, 3 November (H.S.): In a major breakthrough in the investigation into the sensational murder of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabas Panda, Berhampur Police on Monday arrested Uma Bisoi, one of the prime accused believed to be the mastermind behind the killing.

According to police sources, Bisoi not only plotted the assassination but also facilitated contact with professional contract killers hired to execute the crime.

Investigations have revealed that Bisoi played a central role in orchestrating the murder conspiracy, allegedly acting under the directions of influential associates. He reportedly coordinated with the shooters and managed the financial transactions linked to the ₹50-lakh contract deal behind the killing.

Police further stated that Bisoi maintained close contact with two hired assailants — Kurupatti Bhuyan and Chintu Pradhan — who are accused of gunning down Panda near his residence in Berhampur on the night of October 6.

While Chintu Pradhan has already been apprehended, Kurupatti Bhuyan remains at large. Officials believe that Bisoi’s arrest will be crucial in tracing the absconding shooter and uncovering the larger conspiracy behind the high-profile murder.
