The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) apprehended six individuals involved in theft of passenger belongings during special checks conducted across the zone in last days. According to the information given by the CPRO Nf Railway, The team recovered valuables worth approximately ₹1.65 lakh from trains and railway stations in Guwahati and Katihar. All accused, along with the recovered items, were handed over to the respective GRP units for further legal action.
An RPF team in Katihar, in a joint operation with the CPDS unit, apprehended two persons from Katihar railway station and recovered two stolen mobile phones worth around ₹40,000. The same day, another joint team of RPF and CPDS at Guwahati railway station detained one person and recovered two stolen gold rings valued at about ₹80,000.
Earlier, the RPF team of Katihar (East), working jointly with CPDS and GRP, apprehended one person and seized a stolen mobile phone worth nearly ₹20,000.
It may be mentioned that in October alone, RPF of NFR had arrested 19 persons linked with thefts of passenger belongings and recovered around 20 mobile phones and other items worth approximately Rs 2.73 lakh. All accused were handed over to GRP for necessary action.
