Nov (HS): Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel, who virtually
joined the 27th Foundation Day celebrations of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon
Open University on Sunday, said, We must make society aware of the
environment and health. We must become self-reliant by adopting Swadeshi. We
must highlight and restore the glorious Indian knowledge tradition.
The Governor
said that in its development, Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University is
constantly vigilant and sensitive towards dissemination work, social concerns
and public awareness. There is a need to broaden the reach of higher education
to the rural population of the state, especially rural women, Anganwadi
workers, etc., for which Raj Bhavan is continuously motivating. She said that
along with traditional education, students are continuously benefiting from the
vocational and employment-oriented courses here and they are developing new
skills. Keeping in mind the current challenges of the world, country and
society, the Open University will have to move forward with full enthusiasm,
without stopping and without getting tired.
Chief Guest
of the ceremony, Professor Pradeep Sahni, former Professor of Public
Administration, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, shared his
views on the Indian knowledge tradition, stating that the Vedas emphasize
Dharma as the foundation of governance. The cosmic order promotes truth and
moral duty. The Ramayana depicts Rama as a just ruler, adhering to Dharma,
while the Bhagavad Gita emphasizes selfless action and duty for the greater
good. He noted that the Guru Granth Sahib similarly emphasizes equality and
service, opposing social hierarchy and discrimination based on caste, gender,
or wealth and poverty, and emphasizing community welfare through langar and
seva. He added that efficient work can be facilitated through the disciplined
and competent leadership provided by the Gita.
Special
guest, former Cabinet Minister Dr. Narendra Kumar Singh Gaur, said that there
should be no compromise on the quality of education. Examination integrity must
be maintained. He called for a pledge to further enhance the university's
prestige on the occasion of the Foundation Day celebrations.

Sharma, Director of the North Central Zone Cultural Center, said that this Open
University has emerged as a powerful alternative in the field of distance
education. It is a university that is making a significant contribution to a
self-reliant and empowered India through education. In the same vein, Allahabad
Museum Director Rajesh Prasad expressed his best wishes, saying that in
collaboration with the university, a diploma program in museum science has been
launched, which will be very popular.
Presiding
over the function, Open University Vice Chancellor Acharya Satyakam said that
teachers play a crucial role in mainstreaming the Open University. Our teachers
work with dedication and commitment, which has earned the university the third
position in the NIRF rankings. Innovation in the distance education system is
crucial. Under the National Education Policy, we are introducing vocational
courses at our university. The Vice Chancellor said that the distance education
system is student-centric; the learner is everything. On this occasion,
university teachers Dr. Sunil Kumar and Dr. Safina Samavi were honored with
certificates.

in-charge Dr. Prabhat Chandra Mishra said that cultural programs were presented
under the direction of Professor Gyan Prakash Yadav. The welcome program was
coordinated by Professor P.K. Pandey and conducted by Dr. Trivikram Tiwari, and
the vote of thanks was given by the University Registrar, Colonel Vinay Kumar.
