
Navi Mumbai, 15 Nov (HS): Budget Airlines IndiGo and
Akasa Air will start flights connecting ten major cities in India, from
December 25 from the New Mumbai’s International Airport.
IndiGo will operate flights from the New Mumbai
Airport to cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur,
Kochin and Mangalore. More cities will be connected in a phased manner.
The Airport has been developed to reduce the load
over Mumbai’s CSMT International Airport.
Spread over 1,160 hectare one terminal and one
runway will be opened in the first phase. The airport being developed with an
investment of Rs 19,650 crore was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
on October 8. The airport is capable of handling about 20lakh passengers every
year.
