Patna, 14 November (H.S.): The fate of 2,616 candidates in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be decided today, Friday, as the counting of votes for the state's 243 constituencies gets underway. The process commenced at 8:00 AM across 46 counting centers in all 38 districts of the state.

According to the Election Commission of India, the counting of postal ballots began first, followed by the counting of votes from Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) half an hour later. To ensure a fair and transparent process, the Commission has implemented stringent security measures and protocols.

The entire counting process will be monitored via CCTV and videography, and no mobile phones will be allowed inside the counting centers. A total of 243 counting observers have been appointed to oversee the proceedings.

Each counting hall is equipped with 15 tables for the tabulation of EVM votes. A three-tiered security arrangement, comprising central paramilitary forces, the Bihar Military Police, and district police, has been deployed at all counting centers.Most exit polls have predicted a significant victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), suggesting it could return to power with a substantial majority .

The NDA in Bihar, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, includes the Janata Dal-United (JD-U), BJP, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustan Awam Morcha, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha

The NDA's main contender is the Congress-led Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance.

This election is also seen as a crucial test for the political future of Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), a key member of the Grand Alliance.

A high voter turnout of 67.13 percent has made the electoral arithmetic more complex, with analysts believing that the votes of women and youth could play a decisive role.

The Chief Electoral Officer has stated that the official results are expected to be declared by late evening.Patna district, with the highest number of 14 assembly seats, has all its counting preparations in place at the A.N. College center, according to District Magistrate Thyagarajan SM.

He also noted that the result for the Mokama seat is expected to be announced first, while the Digha seat result will likely be the last to be declared . Detailed arrangements have been made for vote counting across all districts, with specific colleges and government buildings designated as counting centers for the various constituencies.
