New Delhi, October 9(HS): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming the Modi government’s steadfast commitment to achieving a terrorism-free Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Intelligence Bureau Director, Chief of Army Staff, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Directors General of the Central Armed Police Forces, as well as senior officials from the Government of India, the Army, and the J&K administration.

Shah lauded the relentless efforts of security agencies, noting that the terrorist infrastructure nurtured by the nation's adversaries in Jammu and Kashmir has been “almost eliminated.”

He assured that all essential resources will continue to be provided to maintain the momentum, adding that security forces have “full freedom to crush any attempt to threaten peace and security in the region.”

Appreciating the swift and effective measures taken by the Union Territory administration and security agencies following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Shah said these steps have significantly bolstered the overall security environment in Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored the critical importance of close coordination among all security agencies and constant vigilance to eradicate terrorism entirely.

With winter approaching, the Home Minister warned against attempts by terrorists to exploit snowfall as cover for cross-border infiltration. He directed security forces to remain fully prepared and proactive to prevent any such incidents.The meeting reinforced the government's resolve to strengthen security operations, coordinate intelligence inputs, and ensure peace and stability in the region.
